Early last Saturday morning just after 2:00 a.m., Police received a call reporting that multiple shots had been fired in the parking lot of Lionel’s Bar located on Main Street in Lutcher.
Six-mill Property Tax Proposition Suffers Whopping Defeat At Ballot Box
Last Saturday, April 27, 2024, registered voters in St. James Parish who made it to the polls overwhelmingly voted down a proposed 6-mill ( 10-year) parish-wide property tax that would have dedicated 4-mills to pay for all residential garbage fees, as well use 2-mills to help fund recreation, road and bridge maintenance, and animal control.
Planning Commission Says NO To Solar Farm Land Use Application
The St. James Parish Planning Commission met Monday evening in Convent and conducted a two-hour plus long Public Hearing on D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments’ (DESRI) land use application to construct a 2,200 acre solar farm in Vacherie, and in the end, the Commission voted 81 to deny DESRI’s land use application.
